I teach the occasional workshop on my representational style in oil and acrylic -- how to capture the magnitude of atmosphere, the luminosity of light filled clouds, or the calm tranquility of still waters.  If you are interested in having me teach at your workshop or gallery space, please contact me.

"Birch Trees in the Snow"


Supply List:

Acrylic or Oil paint: 

  • Titanium White
  • Prussian blue
  • Payne’s Grey
  • Burnt umber
  • Raw umber
  • Any other colors you may have

I will be working and demoing in Acrylic - but Oils with a drying medium are welcome.

Brushes:

  • One medium Flat or Bright brush, like#6 
  • Two Large Flat brushes for blending the background 
  • Several small round brushes, #4 -#0
  • Plus any other brushes you might have. 

Other: 

  • Water pot
  • A 24x24-inch or larger canvas
  • For oil painters: Odorless mineral spirits, and drying medium
  • Palette to mix paints on (could be a paper palette pad, a traditional palette or whatever you prefer)
  • Notebook and pens for note-taking 
  • Rags or paper towel (I like the blue shop towels!) 
  • A table easel or whatever you have
  • Something to bring your wet paintings home in (cardboard box, etc.)
